However only a few days old she emigrated from St. Louis to New York City. In the year 1991, Barnard College granted her an Art History degree. In the same year, she was hired as an intern in An American Place restaurant for one year. Guarnaschelli started her career in the kitchen through watching mom, who was in charge of editing cookbooks in the early days and test a variety of recipes. Her career began under Larry Forgione before working in several Los Angeles, New York and French establishments. Guarnaschelli was later appointed the executive chef of Butter. Guarnaschelli is a Food Network Iron Chef America contestant, who was competing against Cat Cora for the Farmers Market Battle of 2007 during Iron Chef America. The following year, she competed as the season's third runner in The Next Iron Chef, and she has served as an Iron Chef judge since. Also, she participated on The Food Network Challenge Ultimate Thanksgiving Feast episode and lost the event. In the aftermath of the conclusion of The Next Iron Chef's season four, she was named sous-chef under Iron chef Geoffrey Zakarian. In 2008, she hosted The Food Network show The Cooking Loft.
